About Us!
Hello, my name is Sandy and I am the developer of Journal Junk Mail. I live in North Florida, along with my work/life partner, Tim. We are both lovers of dogs and travel.
As a boomer, crafting has always been a big part of my life. I received my first sewing machine the Christmas just before my ninth birthday. And my mother used to encourage me by subscribing to craft magazines so I could try out all the newest crafting trends. As a kid, I once made a chandelier out of Styrofoam cups! I really did! They were not, however, previously used Styrofoam cups. That part of my journey – the quasi-environmentalist part – didn’t take shape until many decades later.
For the past (nearly) 20 years I have dealt in (and offered for sale online) sewing and crafting supplies that I find at garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets. If I can’t use it myself, there are always other crafters who are interested in taking the (rescued) items and using them to create original works that they can admire and feel good about. It’s a win-win.
This is my vision for Journal Junk Mail. My intentions are to fill this monthly envelope with items that others would consider “just junk” and may otherwise have been thrown away to memorialize, create, and record a time or feeling in your life.
Many thanks to Tim for his hours of hard work designing and launching this website so I would be able to easily connect with each of you. He truly is a blessing – and a trooper. I wouldn’t be able to do it without him, and without all of you.
